Journey to Bud to Bloom

Hi!

I am Elizabeth Arizpe. I am passionate about empowering children and families to live vibrant, satisfying, sensory-rich lives with a healthy balance of work and play. I am a pediatric occupational therapist living in Houston, TX. Throughout my practice, I have learned the impact that movement, nutrition, living at a slower pace, and time in nature can have on our quality of life. Due to cultural norms, I find that children, in particular, are desperate for incorporating these aspects into their daily lives.

Many of the strategies I have used in my practice as an occupational therapist have shaped my parenting style. I have 2 children of my own and I utilize sensory enrichment strategies on a daily basis for myself and my children. I find that my children have days when they more dysregulated (this may look like anxiety, defiance, not listening, stubborn-ness) than others. I have also found I have days when I get easily frustrated or am more quickly to react emotionally to situations. Utilizing the strategies of movement, nutrition, slowness, and nature, I can help my family achieve a calmer and more focused state.

Throughout my trainings and experience, I have learned to view children’s responses to their lives through a different lens. I have learned about the 8 sensory systems. If one system is not functioning effectively, it can disrupt the foundation of their functioning manifesting in behavioral difficulties, emotional dysregulation, decreased attention, or inability to engage (or connect) with others around them.

This has made such a profound impact on my family, I decided to open an avenue to share it with yours. I chose a parent coaching model for this business because I believe if I can empower the parents to understand the concepts I utilize, they can teach their children and it will foster a deeper connection between the parent and child. I also want to help parents learn to view their children through a sensory rich lens that will not only foster empathy but allow the parent to have more confidence with disciplining their child.

I would love to talk with you if you are interested in learning more about your children and the way they interact as a part of your family.
